Rouge Vif D’Etampes is a French heirloom squash varietal that is brightly colored with a flattened and ridged shape, similar to a fairytale pumpkin. Characteristically rich and bright orange to red in color, "Rouge vif" means "vivid red", tying the sh’s name to its physical appearance. Often times this squash has been described as having the appearance of a giant red cheese wheel.
