Radish, Ramolaccio Birra di Monaco

Ramolaccio Birra di Monaco, Munchner Bier Radish. A famous German heirloom radish that is popular in much of northern Europe; 4” white roots have a pungent, crisp flesh that is sliced onto bread or served with pretzels. It also produces tender seed pods that are tasty pickled or added to salads.

Review:

I tried this variety for the first time this year and it's going on my must-plant list for every year in the future! These grew very large, very quickly. The greens were tasty, but it was the radish itself that stood out. SO good! Peppery and earthy at the same time when raw, but my favorite way to prepare was to slice them up and fry them in butter. They mellow out and get soft and creamy. I bet these would be awesome mashed, though I didn't plant enough to get to try that. I highly recommend.
