Onion, Cipolla Dorata di Parma Onions

Onion, Golden of Parma. Mid/late. Large round golden bulb with white flesh.  Onion growers in Parma, Italy were elated with the 1896 introduction of 'Dorata di Parma' or "Golden of Parma" as it translates. This heirloom is not only sweet and mild, but has more complex onion flavor. It stores an incredibly long time, lasting until the following harvest in some cases. Over time in storage, the flavor becomes more pungent. Long day onions, like 'Yellow of Parma', grow largest in the north, above the 37th parallel, where summer days are longest.  Dorata di Parma Onion Dorata di ParmaThe 'golden' onion of Parma, Italy. A late maturing onion with golden upright top-shaped large bulbs. Excellent storage quality. Compares to any of the top yellow varieties for taste. The shape makes for great slicing.Dorata di Parma produces a fantastic large, round bulb with a golden skin and white flesh. This is an excellent variety of onion for storing. Sow the seeds from March until May and you can be harvesting from August right through until the following spring.

Good storer. Goes well with other ingredients from Parma such as Parmesan cheese and Parma ham. Sow Mar-May.    600-700 seeds
