Lettuce, Lattuga Unicum

Lettuce, Lattuga Unicum is a mid-late variety with a round head of good dimension, tender, slightly blistered and tightly wrapped leaves.  Vigorous plant with slightly crisp and blistered leaves which are light green with rose spots.  The head is large and compact..  It is harvested when it is completely wrapped and compact.  Atypical Brazilian, voluminous, with light green leaves streaked with pink, slightly blistered. Jagged leaf, very crunchy. Easy to grow variety. Avoid transplants in July and August in the lowlands. Water in the morning, trying not to get the leaves wet. Resistant to low temperatures.

The dark-green leaves are nicely speckled with red dots. This optical conspicuousness is only one of its delightful features. It also has heavy, crisp heads which fill the salad bowl. This lettuce bolts late, so it is suitable for spring and fall cultivation. We highly recommend it!  Large headed green with light purple/red tinge to outer leaves, serrated crunchy leaves. Successional sowings outdoors from March to June and September, indoors sow Feb to June. Space 8-10 " apart.
