Kohlrabi, Cavolo Rapa di Vienna Bianco

Kohlrabi, Cavolo Rapa di Vienna Bianco  Mid Early plant with crisp round bulbs with consistent white flesh that grow above the ground. Prefers mild to cool weather so sow in spring & autumn. Direct sow

The "Vienna white" kohlrabi (Brassica oleracea convar acephala var gongylodes), also known as the Italian cultivar "Di Vienna bianco", belongs to the first varieties available on the market. It develops large (up to 6 oz) and delicious, firm, bright green stems that are ready to harvest only 45 days after planting, making it an ideal or post-harvest bark. Its leaves are deeply cut and reach a medium length. The pulp is juicy and has a tender flavor. Therefore it can be cooked or steamed, but also eaten raw. It contains many minerals, such as iron and calcium and vitamin C.

To grow stalks of the highest quality, it is recommended to choose a site with cultivated, moist and not too dry soil for "Vienna white" kohlrabi, although this plant is relatively less demanding among other Brassicae vegetables. The seed can be sown with equally good results under cover or in outdoor locations. Depending on the sowing date, "Vienna white" kohlrabi is harvested from April to July.

Be sure to have soil that is cultivated, moist, not too dry soil
