Leek, Porro Carentan

Heirloom Leeks "Carentan" 115 days Late variety from France that has high resistance to cold conditions. An old European favorite now becoming rare. Medium sized thick stems with dark green leaves.  Vigorous and fast growing.  It has a delicate delicious mild flavor and is great fresh or cooked. Holds well.  4 gram pack.  approximately 600 seeds or more.

Use in all sorts of cooking to add flavor to soups and stews, and is delightful in its own right par boiled and finished with a white sauce and cheese with a quick broil.  Of course it is excellent for broths, stews, tortes, braised meats, and makes an excellent sauce on fresh pasta.
