Arnica   Arnica Montana    A mountainous herb. Ointment made from dried flowers is used to treat sprains and bruises. For use as a topical treatment only. Germination can take weeks. Best to chill the seed first before sowing. Arnica is traditionally made into a paste for treating bruises and scars. The plant blossoms from June till August. Bright yellow in color and similar in appearance to the daisy flower, arnica (Arnica montana) is a perennial herb that grows in Canada, the United States, Europe, and East Asia. It's also known as mountain tobacco, mountain arnica, leopard's bane, and wolf's bane.  Arnica is a perennial that grows to a height of 1 to 2 feet with yellow-orange flowers similar to daisies. Stems are round and hairy, ending in 1 to 3 flower stalks, with flowers 2 to 3 inches across. Leaves are bright green. The upper leaves are toothed and slightly hairy, while lower leaves have rounded tips. It is native to the mountains of Europe and Siberia, and is cultivated in North America.
